Why is a permit stuck in plan review or showing a stale status?
Stuck in plan review: The plan review hasn’t been completed yet by the responsible subcode or construction official. The permit can’t move forward until that review is finalized.
Stale status: Permits are marked stale after sitting without activity for a set number of days, controlled by the Stale Permit Period setting (Tools > Construction Options > Plan Review tab). Each town sets this value itself — e.g., if set to 180 days, a permit with no updates for 180 days is automatically flagged stale.
