SDL Portal: Inspection Requests
Inspection Requests
Scheduling inspections for permits, fire alarms, and other certificate applications can be completed in the Requests - Schedule Inspections wizard. The most frequently used will be covered below.
Construction Inspections: Construction Inspection Requests are a three step process.
Identify the Permit

1: Search for your open Permit.
- Once your Permit Application is accepted, and the plan review is complete you will be provided with a
Permit Numbereither in person or via email. The Permit Number box will search for your permit and suggest the valid property record for that permit. You must click on Portal's suggestion for this entry so that records remain accurate. Please Note:Portal Request numbers (PR-1234235346)are NOT valid permit numbers.

- Here you can see that I began to type my permit and Portal suggested a few valid Property Records. The ones that are grayed out are for closed permits however the one I'm searching for is Open and ready for inspections so I click on it and the Permit Number field changes from Red to Green.
- Once a valid Permit number is entered you can choose from a valid list of subcodes on that permit.

- Finally, you must select an
Inspection Type. This list is curated by the town. If you are unsure about which Inspection Type you need call the appropriate Department at town hall. Should you select the wrong type the town can correct this on their end and you will be notified of any corrections via SDL Portal's email.
2: Choose preferred Inspection Dates
- We ask that you choose three dates for the inspection. This flexibility helps to ensure that you and the Inspector can fulfill the inspection request on the best date possible without having to reschedule.

- Select dates by clicking on the Calendar. Days may be color coded to signify how many inspections an Inspector is doing that day. If there are many Inspections for your subcode in a day it will be marked from Green to Orange on the calendar. On red striped days, the Inspector is either booked, or unavailable on that day.
3: Submit Your Request
- Once all required fields are fulfilled (Permit Number, Subcode, Inspection Dates, and Notes, if the town requires) the 'Submit Request' section will no longer be greyed out.

All of the details for your request are summarized here for your review. If everything checks out, press on the Send Request button. This will pass on a Portal Request to your municipality and SDL Portal will send you a confirmation email.

You will be given a PR (Portal Request) number. This is used by the town to track your request but does not signify your Inspection is scheduled. When a Town Clerk sees this Portal Request they will review your submission and schedule your Inspection on the best of your three requested dates.
You will receive another confirmation email when your Inspection is accepted, and scheduled. These emails can be used as correspondence between you and your Municipality.
Finally, on the day before your Inspection you will reminded of your Inspection. This email also asks that you confirm you are ready for the Inspection and offers one last chance to reschedule the Inspection.

Skim the summary of your inspection details, if everything looks good to you press 'Confirm' to lock in the date.
