SDL Portal - Settings - How to Change Public Access Settings

This guide is for Town Admins configuring the SDL Portal who need to manage what's visible to the public. Follow these steps when you want to turn on public/anonymous portal access, customize home page display items, redact property owner info, set access for permits/inspections and complaints, manage map layers, control search result downloads, and toggle which property page sections are publicly visible.

1. First open www.sdlportal.com and login with your SDL Desktop/Geoclient username and password. Don't forget to click Sign in as an SDL User and use Select a Town to find your municipality. Then click Sign In.

2. Once on your Portal homepage, go to the menu in the upper right hand corner. Click Town Admin. *Note you must be set up as a Town Portal Admin to access this page. If you are not a Portal Admin, have your SDL Account Admin request your access.

3. Once in Town Admin, click Settings and Access.

4. You will be brought to the Custom Branding options. This includes custom colors, images and text. Please note that these have already been set up, but you are welcome to change as desired.

5. Click on Data Display to access your main Portal settings.

6. Use the General Tab to turn on Public Access to the Portal, as well as allow Anonymous Access as desired.

7. Home page includes settings for which items will be displayed to the public on your Portal Home page. This includes the lookup/search bar, the statistics dashboard, shortcuts to your active Online Requests, and any custom links

8. The Property tab is where you can redact property owner name from the property pages. You can also allow public access to attachments.

9. The Permits/Inspections tab allows users to allow public access to building permits, inspections and additional permit details.

10. The Complaints tab allows users to set public access for complaints based off of complaint type.

11. The Maps tab allows users to turn on and turn off custom town map layers.

12. The Search tab is where you determine whether or not you would like to allow public users to download search results.

13. Next, go back to the main Town Admin menu and select Property Info Display. This page will list all sections of a property page that you are able to turn on and off to the public. To turn a section on click the check mark under Public Full.

14. Finally, remember to click Save Settings in the upper right hand anytime you make any changes to any Portal settings.
