SDL Field and Mobile — Complaints

Filtering and Managing Complaints in the Field

The Complaints tile is available across all SDL Field or Mobile modules. It displays complaints that have been submitted by residents and processed by office staff in SDL Desktop. Once a complaint has been reviewed and accepted in SDL Desktop, it will appear in the Complaints tile in SDL Field or Mobile for the inspector to reference and act on.

Filtering Complaints

By default, the Complaints tile shows all complaints across the module. To narrow the list down, tap the three-line icon in the bottom-right corner of the Complaints screen. This opens the filter menu, which includes four options.

Create Quick Filter provides a fast search based on common timeframes such as today, this week, or this month. This is useful when you only need to see recent activity without setting up a custom filter.

Get Default is the recommended starting point for most inspectors. Pressing this automatically filters the list to show only complaints within the module you are currently in, removing unrelated records from other modules.

Remove All Filters clears any active filters and returns the full unfiltered complaints list.

Advanced Filters opens a detailed filter panel where you have full control over what appears in the list. From here you can set a custom date range and filter by any combination of Assigned To (to narrow the list to your own complaints), Complaint Type, Status, and Priority.

Creating a New Complaint

Complaints can also be created directly from the field. From the Complaints tile, tap the New button in the top-right corner of the screen. This will open a new complaint form. Every new complaint requires a property and a complaint type before it can be saved. Complaint types are configured in SDL Desktop, so the options available will reflect what your municipality has set up.
