SDL Field and Mobile — Land Use Module
Overview of Land Use Module on SDL Field and Mobile
The Land Use module in SDL Field is primarily used for Zoning inspections. From the module home screen, inspectors have access to Complaints, Calendar, Inspections, New Inspection, Inspection Reports, Online Forms, Property Search, Zoning Applications, and Statutes. The shared features are covered in their own KB articles. This article covers what is specific to Land Use.
Inspections
Land Use inspections are primarily performed for Zoning-related matters. Each inspection has four tabs: General, Violations, Attachments, and Checklists.
The General tab displays the property information, inspection details including the Result type and Inspection Type, and a signature field.
The Violations tab shows any violations associated with the inspection. To add a new violation, tap the plus (+) icon within the Violations tab. From the violation record, you can tie the violation to a specific statute and issue a summons directly from that record if needed.
The Attachments tab works the same way as in other modules — tap Gallery to select an existing photo from your device or Camera to take a new one on the spot.
The Checklists tab displays any checklists that have been created and tied to inspections in SDL Desktop.
Property Search
The Property Search tile allows inspectors to look up properties within the municipality. Each property record pulls information from ModIV data and the Property page in SDL Desktop, giving a comprehensive view of the property. From any property record, you can tap Create Inspection to initiate a new Land Use inspection directly from the property.
Zoning Applications
The Zoning Applications tile provides access to active and historical zoning applications for the municipality. It works similarly to the Permits tile in the Construction module — inspectors can search, view details, and reference application information while in the field.
Statutes
The Statutes tile displays all Zoning Statutes that have been uploaded and configured in SDL Desktop for the Land Use module. These are available for quick reference during inspections. If expected statutes are not appearing, they will need to be uploaded and configured in SDL Desktop by your administrator.
