SDL Field and Mobile — Health Module

Overview of Health module in SDL Field and Mobile

The Health module in SDL Field is used for conducting health inspections such as food service and facility assessments. From the module home screen, inspectors have access to Complaints, Calendar, Property Search, and Inspections. The shared features are covered in their own KB articles. This article covers what is specific to Health.

Inspections

Health inspections follow the same list, filter, and map view behavior described in the Inspections KB article. Within each individual inspection, inspectors can fill in the Result Type, Inspection Type, and any relevant Notes. Inspectors can also initiate a Risk Based Report from within the inspection — see below for details.

Risk Based Report

The Risk Based Report is a structured assessment tool built into each Health inspection. To begin, open an inspection and tap the Risk Report button. This opens a dedicated report with three tabs: General, Risk Items, and Temperatures.

General captures the foundational information for the inspection, including location information, reinspection date or dates, REHS License number, Health Official, Risk Types, and License Numbers.

Risk Items contains 52 standardized risk item categories drawn from Chapter 24 of the NJ Department of Health regulations. Items are organized into multiple categories based on that framework. For each item, the inspector selects one of six statuses: In Compliance, Out of Compliance, Not Observed, Not Applicable, Corrected On-Site, or Repeat Offender. Inspectors scroll through each category and record the appropriate status for every applicable item.

Temperatures allows the inspector to record temperature readings taken during the inspection, logged directly within the report for documentation and compliance purposes.

Saving and Generating the Risk Report

Once all three tabs have been completed, tap Save Risk Report. This saves the report and returns you to the main inspection screen. From there, tap Generate Risk Report PDF to produce a shareable PDF of the completed report. The PDF can then be emailed or otherwise sent to the facility directly from SDL Field.
