Portal Settings - Fire Prevention - Setting Up Fire/Smoke Detector Inspection

This guide is for Town Admins configuring the SDL Portal who need to let residents request fire/smoke detector inspections online. Follow these steps when you want to enable and customize the request — setting access, notifications, and display/label text, requiring payment and configuring fees, managing scheduling and calendar options, and setting up custom fields or required document uploads.

  1. From the SDL Portal, click Town Admin.

  2. Click Web Requests.

  3. Click Fire/Smoke Detector Inspection.

  4. Access Settings is where the type of user that can create this request is determined.

  5. Notification Settings is where you can adjust the staff members who will receive an email notification.

  6. Display Settings determines where the request will appear on the Portal.

  7. Label Settings is where you can edit the title of the web request if you have specific verbiage you would prefer to use.

  8. Requests Page Text Settings is where various descriptions and instructions can be edited. 

  9. Attachment Settings is where attachments for the request are managed. 

  10. Require Payment Option is used to determine if Internal/Desktop or All users are required to make a payment before the request is submitted to SDL Desktop.

  11. Configure Smoke Alarm Inspection Fees is where wither Default or Custom Fees can be set up.

  12. Calendar Settings is where Inspection Scheduling options are managed

  13. Custom Field Settings are used to append additional notes fields to the request.

  14. Upload/Download Form Settings is where specific documents or forms that are requested/required for the request are managed.
