Portal Settings - Construction - Setting Up Inspection Requests
41 STEPS
1. To access the Portal inspection settings click the arrow under the 'My Account' icon.

2. Click Town Admin from the drop down. If you do not see the town admin option contact your SDL or Town administrator to review your portal permissions.

3. Use the menu bar on the left to access the Web Request settings

4. If you click on the down arrow, you can choose Inspections from the drop down list.

5. With the Edit Icon and "Web Requests", you can see an overview of your towns request statuses. You can see from the legend at the top that Building Inspections are not enabled for public access at this time.

6. Click Building Inspection to complete the Inspection request set up

7. On the building inspection set up page there are two tabs. Stay on the Request Settings tab. Inspection Requests do not require different templates, so we will not work off of that tab.

8. Review the Access settings and check the desired box(es) for your Inspection Requests.
While testing, you can use the Allow SDL Geologic Users Access . This will allow town SDL users to preview your requests without allowing public access.

9. Under the public account access
choose Allow Account Access to turn on Inspection Requests for public users who have created accounts with verified email addresses.

10. Require Account Verification requires an active portal account and an email verification, in addition to a verified phone number tied to the account.

11. Allow Unregistered Access allows the public to submit Building Inspection requests without creating or logging into a Public User Portal Account.

12. If you are not requiring a portal login it is recommended to Require the CAPTCHA check.

13. You can add email addresses for anyone who would like to receive an email BCC's of the incoming Inspection Requests

14. If you're including more than one email, type email addresses and separate by using a comma.

15. It is recommended for the inspection request to Display on Home Page with the other available portal requests.

16. It should also be displayed on the Requests Page.

17. The Request Page should show all of your town's active requests, and can be accessed using the shortcut found on the portal home page menu bar.

18. The Building Inspection Request will display with all the active portal requests. The text within the request box can be customized back in the Inspection Request settings.

19. You can customize both labels: the Request Name as well as the Button Text. Type over the default text to replace it with your text.

20. You can also customize the Request Description text.

21. You can also add a Custom Submit Description. This will display end of the application before the applicant hits submit. Often, towns use this to supply additional contact information. Again, you can write over our default text.

22. Click into the Description box to enter any custom text that you would like to display at the beginning of the Inspection Request the applicant has started. Often, towns will give an outline of their subcode inspection availability in this section.

23. Scroll down to customize the request Instructions. This will also display at the top of the Inspection Request the applicant has started.

24. Next, you will need to review the Inspection Types the applicants can choose from. These will sync from inspection types created in your desktop. Highlight any inspection types that you would like to exclude from applicant's options.

25. Any Inspection Types highlighted in blue will not be available for the public to choose from when scheduling the inspection.

26. Scroll down to Scheduling days ahead. This sets the number of days in advance that an inspection can be requested. You're able to reduce to 7 or increase to up to 365 days.

27. The requester will have up to three scheduling day options. This setting will determine how many of those dates you will make required for them to choose.

28. Select your preference from the drop down.

29. When you have completed the set up, make sure to scroll to the top and click Save Settings. The changes will not take effect unless you save the settings.

30. You should see the confirmation notice stating Your update was successful.

31. Clicking Go to Portal Request will bring you to the public view of your most recent setting changes.

32. If you portal is not yet active, you will need to review your public access settings. Click on Settings and Access

33. Click Data Display

34. Stay on the General tab

35. When you have completed your setup and are ready for public access to the Portal, Allow Public Access to the Portal must be enabled. This is the main on/off switch for Portal access for your town.

36. Remember to Save Settings

37. Once the Portal is live, you will want to enable update Notifications. Under the Notifications tab, click Settings. To activate the Inspection notifications, check the corresponding box.

38. You can enter custom text for the inspection emails if you wish. Please note, these will appear on every automatic Inspection Notification email, regardless of inspection status/result/type.

39. Remember to scroll to the top to Save Settings.

40. Your Inspection Request setup is now complete. Your public will have access to building inspection scheduling from your portal home page.

37. Once the Portal is live, you will want to enable update Notifications. Under the Notifications tab, click Settings. To activate the Inspection notifications, check the corresponding box.

40. Your Inspection Request setup is now complete. Your public will have access to building inspection scheduling from your portal home page.
