1. To access the SDL Portal, navigate to sldportal.com Make sure to check "Sign in with Municipal Employee account" box.

2. Select your town from the drop down list

3. You can start typing the town name to search.

4. Click highlight

5. First go to SDLPortal.com and sign in as a municipal user using your SDL credentials.

6. Your town name should populate in the drop down list.

7. Click Sign in to access the portal

8. Click Town Admin in the account menu.
*Note you will need to be set up as a town SDL Portal admin to access this page. If you are not a Portal admin, contact your SDL Admin, who can give you access or request we do so.

9. Click Web Requests

10. Click Building Permit

11. You will be brought to the main Request Settings. These settings will apply to every template, or work type, that you create.

12. The Access Settings will determine whether you turn the request on for SDL Desktop User Access (internal staff), Public Account Access (users who have created an account and are logged in) or Anonymous Access.

13. Use the BCC Emails field to enter email addresses for any town users who would like to receive email notifications for every permit request submitted.

14. The Display Settings will display the link to start the permit request on the Home Page and the Requests page.

15. The Label Settings will edit how the request name, button and description are displayed on the Requests page. All defaults are displayed in gray, to replace simply type over them in the fields provided.

16. The Custom Submit Description will display at the end of every permit request, next to the submit button. Again, the default is displayed in gray, but users can replace it by typing over it in the text box.

17. After you have set all of the main Request Settings, you will need to create and set up your permit templates. To do so, click Manage Templates.

18. All templates will display on this page, with the status clearly labeled to the left. To create a template for a specific permit type, click Create Template.

19. First enter a Template Name

20. The Access Settings will turn the template on for SDL Users Access, or for Public Access. If you leave both unchecked, the template will remain Inactive.

21. Enter an email address for any internal user who would like to receive an email for requests created in just this permit type. *Note, if an email is entered on the Requests Settings page, emails will be received for all template submissions.

22. Enter any Description or Instructions for this template. Formatting tools are available, such as bold, italic, underline, hyperlinking, bulleted/numbered lists, text color/highlight, etc.

23. Attachment Settings is the option to turn on/require attachment uploads. You can also provide instructions on documents to be uploaded. This field is useful if you require any uploads from a list of options, or for any optional supporting documents.

24. Select the Subcodes that may be used for this permit type, or if it is a Non UCC permit.

25. Click this check box to include a blank copy of the In Lieu Of Oath Certification form for applicants to download, complete, and re-upload.

26. The Document section can be used to request a specific document be uploaded. You can also provide a URL to an external document, for the applicant to download, complete and upload. Enter the name, description and instructions for the file requested.

27. Click the Allow Upload checkbox to turn the upload on, and Require Upload to require the upload be completed. After all fields are complete, remember to hit Add to finalize that Document Upload type.

28. You can do the same thing in the Project Plan Upload Settings for any plan types needed for this request. *Note that any project plan uploads will only accept PDF documents.

29. The plan types can also be required by checking the Required Plan Type check box. Again, always remember to hit Add once you have completed the fields.

30. After you're done with all of the fields, hit Save Template.

31. Once you've set up your Permit Requests, you can always hit Go to Portal Request to see how the request will look to a public user.
