Portal Settings - Construction - Setting up Building Inspection Requests

1. First visit sdlportal.com and login using your SDL Desktop credentials.

3. Click Web Requests

4. Click Building Inspection
5. The first section will be where you set your request Access Settings. Here you can turn it on for SDL Geologic users, Public Account users (citizens logged in) or anonymous users.

6. Use the BCC Emails section, to enter email(s) of users who would like to receive an email for each request submitted.

8. The Label Settings will allow you to change the default Label and Button text for the request. The Request Page Text Settings will allow you to change the request's description.
Default labels will appear in gray, type over them to edit.
9. The Custom Submit Description appears at the end of the public request, before the applicant hits Submit. To overwrite the default text shown in gray, type over it in the box provided.

10. Custom Description and Instructions fields are available, which will display at the top of the request. Formatting such as text color, bold, bullet & numbered lists and hyperlinking options are available.

11. Available Subcode Inspection Types sync over from your SDL Desktop. If you need new inspection types, they must be added in the Desktop. If you do not want to allow applicants to select an inspection type, select it to highlight in blue.

12. Scheduling days ahead refers to how far out you want to allow applicants to request their inspection dates. The current minimum is no more than 7 days out. The current maximum is 365 days out.

13. The Requested Dates Required refers to how many dates the applicants will be required to request. You can choose between 1, 2 and 3 required date selections.

14. After any changes are made, always remember to hit Save Settings at the top of the request settings page.

15. Click Go to Portal Request to see the updated version of your request as applicants would see it.

16. Applicants will always start by searching for and selecting their Permit.

18. Next they will select the Inspection Type from the list available for that subcode.
19. Applicant name will populate if you require Account Login for this request. Contact Phone Number will be required if there is not one associated with the account.

20. There is also a field provided for any Additional Notes.

21. The applicant will be prompted to select inspection date requests based on how many you have required. The color of the date will reflect how many inspections are available for that subcode on that date, as seen in the Legend.

22. The applicant will now be able to select Submit Request

23. They will receive this confirmation, along with an email copy, containing a link to check the status of their request.

24. The Request will display all details, along with the option to cancel the request if it has not been processed. Once the inspection has been scheduled, applicants will receive a new email with inspection details.
