How does a resident attach documents or plans to a portal request?
When submitting a request, there's a dedicated Documents step in the multi-step wizard. Depending on how the municipality configured that request type, it can present up to three types of attachments:
|
Attachment Type |
How the Resident Attaches It |
|---|---|
|
File / Photo / PDF |
Click the Upload button next to a slot, or drag and drop. Max 10 MB per file. Allowed file types and max count per slot are set by the municipality. |
|
Online Form |
Click "Complete form" — opens a full-screen form within the portal. Auto-attaches to the request on submission. |
|
Plans |
Same upload mechanism as files, but for large permit-related drawings — the system generates a special upload URL to handle bigger file sizes reliably. |
A few details worth knowing:
- Once a file uploads successfully, its name appears with a Remove button so the resident can swap it before submitting.
- A failed upload shows an "Upload Error" indicator — the resident can remove and retry.
- Duplicate file names are blocked.
- A completed online form shows buttons to view or remove it (removal requires confirmation, since it would need to be redone).
- Plans appear in the request's Documents summary, categorized separately as "Plans."
Required attachments are enforced: if a required file or form hasn't been completed, the Documents step is flagged incomplete and the resident can't advance to Submit.
All three attachment types display together in the Documents card on the submitted request, so staff can review everything in one place.
