How do I void or delete a permit that was created in error?
SDL offers three ways to handle an incorrect permit: void, abandon, or delete.
Void or Abandon
- Open the permit.
- Go to the Closure tab, which offers both options:
- Void — use when the permit was created in error.
- Abandon — use when the process started but was never completed (e.g., the contractor decided not to move forward).
Delete
- Highlight the permit in the data grid.
- Click Delete in the toolbar.
- Accept the warning message to confirm.
Note: Deleting is permanent and removes the record entirely. When in doubt, use Void or Abandon instead, so a historical record is preserved.
