How do I void or delete a permit that was created in error?

SDL offers three ways to handle an incorrect permit: void, abandon, or delete.

Void or Abandon

  1. Open the permit.
  2. Go to the Closure tab, which offers both options:
  • Void — use when the permit was created in error.
  • Abandon — use when the process started but was never completed (e.g., the contractor decided not to move forward).

Delete

  1. Highlight the permit in the data grid.
  2. Click Delete in the toolbar.
  3. Accept the warning message to confirm.

Note: Deleting is permanent and removes the record entirely. When in doubt, use Void or Abandon instead, so a historical record is preserved.
