How do I set up time extensions or re-inspections in the Fire Prevention module?
Re-Inspections
A re-inspection is not a separate inspection type — it’s an Inspection Work Type.
Setup path: Tools > Fire Prevention Options > Edit Inspection Work Type
Workflow after a failed inspection: 1. When you mark an inspection as failed, the system prompts you to create a re-inspection. 2. Create a new inspection with the Work Type set to “Re-inspection” — this links a new inspection record to the same application. 3. If the town charges re-inspection fees, add the fee type manually to the re-inspection record, or configure it in the inspection type setup.
Time Extensions (Abatement Date)
The abatement date on a violation is the deadline to correct a deficiency. 1. Open the violation record. 2. Click Edit. 3. Update the Abatement Date. 4. Add a note explaining the extension. 5. Click OK.
Formal Permit Time Extensions
Extending the validity period of a fire permit itself (not just an abatement date) may require direct database access depending on permit status. Escalate to SDL Support.
