How do I modify the description or fields shown on a portal request type?

Background: Where Templates Come From

Portal request types are built from templates that originate in SDL Desktop. The specific area of Desktop each template pulls from depends on the module involved. These templates only appear on the portal if sync is turned on for that module.

Editing a Template on the Portal

  1. Go to Web Requests.
  2. Click into the specific portal page being edited.
  3. Go to Manage Templates.
  4. Select the template being edited (the one forwarded in from SDL Desktop).

From within the template, you can configure:

  • Access Settings — who can see/use it: SDL Access (internal), Public Access (external), and BCC Emails (addresses copied on submissions for that template type).
  • Description and Instructions — the text shown to residents on the request.
  • Request Page Search Groups — controls the options for identifying who is submitting.
  • Calendar Settings — scheduling parameters, including how far ahead a resident can schedule and how much notice is required.

Available fields and options vary by request type — not every setting above applies to every template.
