How do I add a new user to SDL Desktop?
Applies to hosted customers. On-prem customers should work with their local admin.
Adding a hosted user requires two separate accounts that work together:
|
Account |
Purpose |
Who creates it |
|---|---|---|
|
Active Directory (hosted) account |
Lets the user connect to SDL’s servers |
SDL Support only — contact Support with the modules the new user needs |
|
SDL Desktop account |
Lets the user log into the SDL Desktop application |
Either a municipality admin or SDL Support |
Creating the SDL Desktop Account Yourself
- Go to File > System Administrator.
- Find a user whose permissions you’d like to copy and double-click their record.
- Use Clone to create a new account based on that user’s permissions.
- Update the new profile with the correct name/details.
Alternatively, ask SDL Support to create the SDL Desktop account and specify whose permissions it should mirror.
Important: The hosted (AD) login and the SDL Desktop login are separate accounts. SDL Support always handles the hosted account; the SDL Desktop account can be handled by either party.
