Exporting Data from a Data Grid

How to export data from a datagrid to a CSV or spreadsheet file, including exporting the full grid versus only selected records.

Exporting Data from a Data Grid

Applies to any SDL data grid — permits, units, applications, licenses, and more.

  1. Find the export icon. Look in the data grid toolbar for a folder icon with an arrow, located near the filter and print icons.
  2. Click the export icon. This starts the export process.
  3. Choose a save location. The system will prompt for a local folder on the computer to save the file to.
  4. Name the file. Enter a file name and save.
  5. Answer "Use Selected Records?"
    • Click No to export the entire grid as it currently appears, including any filters applied.
    • Click Yes if specific rows were pre-selected (for example, 6 out of 15 records) and only those should be exported.
  6. Confirm the delimiter. If prompted to choose a delimiter character, the default works fine and doesn't need to be changed.
  7. Access the file. The grid exports automatically as a CSV and can be opened from the folder chosen in step 3.
