How do I change or override a permit’s control number or sequence number?

Overriding a Control Number

1. Open the permit in the Construction module and go to the General tab.
2. Under the Application area, click the blue Override Control Number hyperlink.
3. Enter the new control number in the box that appears.

Control numbers must be unique — duplicates aren’t allowed anywhere in the system.

Changing a Permit Number (After Issuance)

Once a permit is issued, its permit number can be updated directly: 1. Open the issued permit. 2. Locate the Permit Number field and update it.

Checking Your Seed Number

After changing a control or permit number, verify the seed number so the system doesn’t auto-generate a duplicate on the next permit: 1. Go to Tools > Construction Options > Plan Review tab. 2. Under Tracking Numbers, select UCC Permit Numbers or UCC Control Numbers from the dropdown. 3. Click Edit and confirm the seed is set to the correct next value in your sequence.
