Why is a fee item calculating incorrectly on a permit?

Connect

Most common cause: missing dataID in the top trigger section. Even if a dataID is used in the calculation section, it must also be entered in the top trigger section, or the fee won’t appear at all.

Other causes: - The triggering field’s value is 0 — fees require a value greater than 0 to trigger. - An “Additional fee” is configured, but no base fees have calculated yet — additional fees only apply after base fees calculate. - The fee is configured to drive from two dataIDs simultaneously — not supported. Workaround: create two separate fee entries. - The permit has reached Issued status — fees lock and can’t be modified. - The fee was Exempted or Waived — both clear all fees to $0 and block future fees on that submission. - Certificate fees: if the certificate was generated from the Attachments tab instead of the Closure tab, the fee won’t be added.

If none of the above resolves it, escalate to SDL Support with the permit number, expected fee amount, and fee schedule configuration.
