How does inspection scheduling work in SDL Connect?
Scheduling Options (configured per form)
In Form Settings > Inspections tab, three scheduling modes are available:
|
Mode |
What it does |
|---|---|
|
No online requests |
Staff-only scheduling — applicants cannot request inspections |
|
Appointment from submission |
Applicant selects a time slot directly on the form at submission; requires an Appointment Scheduler field on the form; the default inspection type and inspector are set in this tab |
|
Select open days after submission |
Applicant selects up to 3 preferred dates after their submission is approved; the calendar shows real-time availability; the inspector reviews preferences and selects the final date — preferences are not auto-confirmed bookings |
Inspector Controls
Inspectors can configure:
- Max inspections per day
- Available days/hours
- Blocked partial days
- Exception overrides (vacations, holidays)
Connect does not send email when:
- A citizen submits an inspection request
- An inspection is created
- An inspector is assigned
Inspectors need to check the Inspection Calendar or their list in the browser or SDL Field manually.
Calendar Sync
Inspectors can sync their Connect calendar with MS Outlook or other calendar apps via a calendar subscription URL.
Scheduling from a Complaint
- Open the complaint.
- Click "Create Inspection" on the Details tab, or go to the Actions tab > Add under Inspections.
- Select the inspection type, date, and inspector, then save.
