How do I view or manage form submissions in SDL Connect?

This covers both form submissions and permit submissions — the two work similarly but have some different tools available.

Accessing the Submissions Grid

Navigate to the Forms Submissions or Permits section in the left navigation. The data grid supports multiple views:

Description

Grid view

Standard tabular list (default)

Map view

Submissions as map pins (requires a Property Location field on the form and a linked parcel)

Filtering and Sorting

  • Date range — click the calendar icon; choose a predefined or custom range; select which date field to base it on.
  • Sort — click any column header to toggle ascending/descending.
  • Group by column — drag a column header into the Group By box; multiple columns can be stacked.
  • Quick filters — use the Filter menu; remove filters by choosing Reset All.
  • Search — click the dropdown arrow > All Data in Grid; enter criteria; press Enter; clear with the X.
  • Auto-refresh — check the 5-minute refresh option if needed.

Printing and Exporting

Click the gear icon and choose:

  • Print — enter a title/subtitle, select columns (all, visible, or selected), click Print.

  • Export — choose CSV, Excel, or GeoJSON. Optionally append the current date to the filename.

  • Form Reports or Permit Reports — select report type, form, and time frame, then click Generate Report.

Processing a Form Submission

Open a submission to:

  • Approve, deny, or resubmit — use the Resubmit button to send it back to the applicant for corrections; status updates to Resubmit Complete once they respond.

  • Assign — change the assigned department or user (reassigning does not notify the new assignee).

  • Add fees or record payment — from the Fees tab.

  • Add notes or attachments — from the Notes and Attachments tabs.

  • View history — full audit trail on the History tab.

Processing a Permit Submission

Open a permit to:

  • Request a Resubmission — same as above.

  • Assign — change the assigned department or user.

  • Create an Inspection — from the Inspections tab.

  • Initiate a Plan Review — from the Plan Review tab.

  • Add fees or record payment — from the Fees tab.

  • Add notes or attachments — from the Notes and Attachments tabs.

  • View history — full audit trail on the History tab.

Please Note: If a submission was entered internally by staff on behalf of an applicant, it will not appear in the applicant’s own portal account. The applicant has to submit it themselves through the portal for that association to exist.
