How do I update permissions for a staff user in SDL Connect?
- Go to Admin Settings > User Management > Users.
- Find and open the user record, then click Edit.
- Go to the Roles tab.
- Click Add to assign roles (roles are bundles of permissions — e.g., "Inspector," "Plan Reviewer").
- Click Save.
- Reopen the user record — the Permissions tab now shows everything granted through their assigned roles.
Things to Know
- Admin alone isn't enough. Users also need the Standard User role to process form submissions — giving someone only Admin is a common mistake.
- Admin doesn't include complaints.create. This has to be added separately — even Admin users can't create complaints without it.
- The "Permitting" role is required to enable or edit permit options in form settings; otherwise those options are grayed out.
- To let a user delete permits, add the permits.delete permission explicitly via Admin Settings > Users > Permissions tab.
