How do I create custom form statuses in SDL Connect?
Custom statuses can be configured for permit workflows, but not for standalone forms.
Path: Form Settings > Permits tab (requires the Permitting role)
Steps:
- Open the form in Form Designer and go to Settings > Permits tab.
- Find the status configuration section.
- Add a new custom status and configure:
- Name — displayed in the UI
- Initials — appear in the data grid
- Color — visual indicator
- Notification email trigger — optional email sent when the status is applied
- is_final flag — marks the status as a terminal state
- Custom notification text — message sent with the status-change email
- You can also configure a status to auto-change to "Issued" when payment is received.
Constraints to know:
- These system statuses cannot be deleted or removed: Submitted, Issued, Closed, Resubmit, Resubmit Complete, Refused.
- Custom statuses supplement the system statuses — they don't replace them.
- The Permits tab is grayed out unless the user has the Permitting role assigned.
Examples of common custom statuses: Under Review, Plan Review, Open, Pickup, Voided, Stale.
