2022-02-01 Feature Requests & Enhancements Implemented

On the Feature Request page of the SDL Help Center, users can submit ideas and browse, follow & vote for other client suggestions. 

Below is a recap of all of the client feature requests that were submitted and have since been implemented.

SDL Desktop – General

  • Any Payee Name entered into the "Issued To” section will now appear on the payment invoice.
  • Any complainant notes will be internal vs. being included in the email that goes to the complainant. Note: Public notes are still included.  Toms River (#54159)
  • Added text zoom feature to the Prior Approval comment boxes. Toms River (#51555)
  • Added spell check to the complaints text box. Cherry Hill (#52691)
  • Added the ability to upload a signature image to an inspector record so the signature can be automatically applied to the violation notices issued by that inspector. Note: Must create a function request for each module as each one has its own violation report. Phillipsburg (#48908)
  • Added Complaint Management Report to all modules. Marlboro Township (#53385)
  • Datagrid settings will no longer reset & will be saved when SDL Desktop is updated. Maplewood (#50693)
  • Emails sent from SDL can reflect a default email address vs. an individual's email address. Secaucus (#50467)
  • Added drag & drop feature to the attachments section in the Info Pane. Tinton Falls (#62832)

SDL Portal - General

  • Clicking on the template link in SDL Portal now works in internet explorer. Cherry Hill (#38110)
  • Added online inspections for Code Enforcement and Fire Prevention. Cherry Hill (#41749)
  • Added SDL Forms which will allow towns to create new online forms for the portal or collect additional information for existing portal requests.  Toms River (Stanley Ferriolo)
  • Added a feature to accommodate the transfer of large documents for OPRA responses through the SDL Portal. Cherry Hill (#62106)

SDL Online 

  • Added more functionality for Service Request Notifications in SDL Online, specifically a service request assignment notification email). Manville (#65340) 
  • Added the ability to select a default module in SDL Online. Marlboro (#64565)
  • Added the ability to open a complaint from the property info pane. Marlboro (#63192)
  • Added inspection reports to standard and remote inspections that can be sent to the applicant/contractor after the inspection is complete. Howell (#57245)
  • Added a way to choose the result for remote inspections and send the inspection report email prior to closing out of the remote inspection. Morristown (#62524)
  • Added remote inspections for Zoning. Bayonne (#57427)
  • Added the ability to save column orders/size and to be able to sort, group, and filter SDL Online data grids. Cherry Hill
  • All permits are viewable during manual and remote inspections by pressing the "Show Permit" button. Additionally, towns using the newer permit subcode signature feature in SDL Desktop will also have the PDF tech cards for an inspection available to them in the inspection.  Cherry Hill (#57174)

Clerk Module

  • Added a notes field to the parking application data grid in 21.1.1. (Note: you will need a DGC update). Branchburg (#58091)
  • Added tow driver's data grid similar to the existing vehicles report for tow permits/applications. Warren (#59872)
  • Added option to attach any printed Parking Permits to the Parking Applications related tab.  Marlboro (#57425)
  • Added payments columns to the parking permits datagrid to help find unpaid parking permits. (Note: will require DGC update). Nutley (#57085)
  • Added a button for "Location is Applicant" to the location tab in Game of Chance Applications. This allows the application information from the applicant tab to copy over. Manchester (#56655)
  • Added prompt in Game of Chance application. After printing out the Findings and Determination report, there will be an automatic pop-up to add as an attachment in the related tab. Manchester (#56655)
  • Changed the Game of Chance application to display as AM/PM instead of military time. Manchester (#55537)
  • Ability to bulk delete dates under Game of Chance application. Manchester (#55429)
  • Removed the requirement to provide an end date under the copy special form. Manchester (#55428)

Code Enforcement Module

  • Added "Pickup Method" field to allow towns to notate how the applicant plans to obtain their Certificate in SDL Desktop. Tinton Falls (#55594)
  • Added the ability to sort inspection photos by date into SDL Desktop. East Orange (#50574)   
  • Request to add a read/view only option for these as the code officials do need to view this info especially for violation research and complaint research. (Note: There are already read-only permissions in the Login Rules such as CanNOTEditUnits, CanOnlyViewCertificate, CanOnlyViewInspection, CanOnlyViewViolations, etc...). Ewing (#59033)
  • Increased the amount of units visible on the property info pane from 25 to 50. Keyport (#56637)
  • Ability to add a signature image can be used for violations. (Note: you will need to add a signature to the inspectors in order to use this feature). Tinton Falls (#57151) and (#57370)
  • Similar to the SDL Portal form for Road Openings, we added a feature to the Code Enforcement Certificate of Registration in the SDL Portal that allows documents to be attached that applicants are required to download. Oceanport (#53417)
  • Ability to upload a file for citizens that they need to download and fill out for Code Enforcement Certificates on the SDL Portal. Toms River (#42020)
  • Ability to sort photos by date on the Inspection Photos report using date column. East Orange (#50574)
  • Added an anonymous access option for citizens to review rent control information on the SDL Portal. - New Brunswick (#52986)

Construction Module

  • Added electronic signature options for tech cards into SDL Desktop.
  • When emailing from a Construction Inspection in SDL Desktop, the email will populate the "Send To" field so the user does not need to copy & paste it. Bayonne (#56089)
  • Added the ability to set the number of inspections per day for each individual day in SDL Online. Under the construction module, go to Calendar, select the subcode from the drop-down on top, select settings and the first tab has inspection limits for each day of the week, the second tab contains overrides for one-off days (vacations/half days/sick/holidays, etc).   • Construction users can link permits to the COAH application from the Construction module to see the balance. Once linked, the permit cannot be issued until the balance is zeroed out. Warren Township

Engineering Module

  • Added feature to copy attachments from the primary application to prior approval records in SDL Desktop
  • Request to have Engineering data grids with street number and street name separated in the address. (Note: this feature already exists and may require a DGC update). Marlboro (#56094)
  • Added a prompt to copy or create a template to the Engineering Inspections form in 20.2 update. Cherry Hill (#52215)
  • Added the option to create a Grading and Clearing application using the  "Local Action" button on an Engineering prior approval. Cherry Hill (#34493).

Fire Prevention Module

  • Addition of digital signatures to invoices and non-life hazard certificates. Emerson (#63045)
  • Ability to drag & drop attachments into the related tab added to 20.3.5. Bernards & Readington
  • Added a permit type data grid to be able to print out and review all the permit types, their titles and requirements. (Note: you may need a DGC update). West New York (#59087)
  • Location name now appears on inspections in SDL Mobile. Toms River (#47034)
  • Added ability to request date for detector inspections in SDL Portal. Long Hill (#54529)
  • Renamed BLANK STATE APPLICATION report to BLANK FIRE PERMIT APPLICATION. Rockaway Township (#56521)
  • When a Smoke Detector Application is submitted, the payment can also be made and an Inspection Date can be requested. Toms River (#46264)
  • Added "Type" and "Servicing Company" to the extinguisher information so they can be used as lookup fields. Chatham Township.
  • In the fire prevention module, when the store is corporately owned/operated the user needs to mail the invoice to the corporate address, however, they may need to mail notices and certificates to a different local address. Added an address location area just to use for mailing invoices. Howell (#41321)

Land Use Module

  • Digital signatures for zoning officers can now appear on denial letters and permits. Cherry Hill (#57072)
  • For the inspection summary, added the ability to append the application type to the header of the Inspection Summary and added a field for the fee. (Note: only added for Berkeley Heights). Berkeley Heights (#55234)
  • Added a "Related" tab to the COAH payments so attachments can be added - Little Egg Harbor 
  • Added a new permission called CanManageCOAHFees which allows you to add a payment but not change the fee. The permission options are now CanManageCOAHFees (can add payment but not change the fee), CanManageCOAHPayments (can edit/add/delete a payment), and CanEditCOAHFees (can open COAH form) - Warren (#69374)

Health Module

  • Added licenses plate as a category in the application for the Food General Data Grid. Jersey City (#73762)
  • Added option for the Health Pro Daily Bank report to show counter payments. Jersey City (#73762)
  • Added the ability to remove/print a general license without an expiration date. This feature was requested to track/issue Architectural Reviews for Construction. Harding (#72101)
  • Added ability to remove fee amount from License Certificates for General Licenses. Morristown (#70505)
  • Added ability to choose which columns show in the Health Pro Report Manager - General Log Report. Secaucus (#61047)
  • The Tax ID field in the detail tab of a Food License Application has been added to the Food Gen and all other associated data grids. Note: this update will require a data grid category update.  - Jersey City (#53386)
  • Added more data fields to the SDL Portal application for Sludge/Septic pumping (date of pumping, attachments, etc...). - West Milford (Brian Jenkins). 
  • Added a lead abatement form and report to the SDL Desktop - Passaic (#51774) & Patterson
  • Added email tracking to the Health Inspection form. This will allow towns to send inspection reports by email - Ridgewood Village (#51502)
  • Added option for a report to show license applications broken down by license type/ward. - Jersey City (#52821)

Public Works Module

  • CanAddService Request permission will allow you to create/save a service request. CanOnlyViewServiceRequest will not let you create a service request. - North Brunswick (#56709)
